But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.
Act Justly…Love Mercy…Walk Humbly…
Our Everyday Mission is to take God seriously in our everyday lives. We want to stand up for the poor and marginalized and see God’s kingdom take root. This is one of our main missions as a community. To that end, we have created a few local events that gather new friends and old friends together for the purpose of raising money to help support some of the poorest places in the Earth. We believe that we first need to care for practical needs, such as clean water and sustainable education as basic human rights. Once we have established these basic needs, we can work to plant churches and provide spiritual nourishment to people around the world.
The Love Run is a 5k walk/run which specifically develops educational opportunities for impoverished children around the world. We know that education unlocks the shackles of poverty, and that by providing education, we provide opportunities for entire families to step out of the oppressive shadow of poverty. This approach to education also helps to launch young girls into a destiny of promise and help reduce sex trafficking all in one act by nourishing ones mind with brilliant ideas.
We have also developed a new fun night out with purpose. At Whiskey for Water you can turn whiskey sampling into clean water for kids in need. We will jam out to live music by local favorites, B-Side, and nosh on southern-style eats from local Chef, Chris Marshall of Hampton Forks. The premier distiller Woodford Reserve is showcasing 4 of their favorite whiskies for your enjoyment. We will learn about their fine whiskeys, make new friends and hear about the kids we are going to help. All proceeds go to benefit bringing clean water to a one room school in rural Coco Zacappa, Guatemala. In a world that seems so upside down, it is true that a few people together can make a big difference for good! Do good, Be good!
