Have you ever thought…
- Church just seems like a business. There has to be something more.
- I wish there was a church in my neighborhood, for my neighbors.
- Church is so complicated. Is there a way to be the church, simply?
- The sermon was great, but now what? How do we live it out?
- I’m a leader, but I just don’t fit in any of the traditional ministry boxes. What can I do?
- I have a great ministry idea, but I don’t have a church that will support me and work with me.
The great news is that a microchurch can be all those things.
Microchurches can be started in your home, at the office, at school, even at a coffee shop or bar. Anywhere that between six and twenty people can gather as a community of faith, arrange their time around worship and a “curriculum for Christlikeness,” and be intentionally pursuing the mission of Jesus is enough.
So let’s say you have a dream or an idea about starting something, but don’t know where to start? We can help you! Microchurches are incredibly diverse, but still following the simple pattern already described…worship, community, mission.
For example, some microchurches start around an idea for mission. Let’s say you have a passion for feeding the homeless in your area. A microchurch can form around that mission and provide a community that worships together as they serve the “least of these”. Or, let’s say you live in a close-knit neighborhood filled with people who would never darken the doors of a traditional church. You could start a microchurch in your home, invite the neighbors, and ask God how to be a blessing to the people right there on your doorstep!
God doesn’t call the equipped…
…he equips the called!
Regardless of your dream, everyone needs encouragement and partners in ministry that believe in each other. That is the heartbeat of Everyday Mission.
So, where do you go from here?
Step 1 – Contact us and tell us your story! We’d love to have a short Zoom call or meeting in person to get to know you and talk about your idea. Don’t worry, we aren’t trying to steal your ideas or fit you in our program. Microchurches are autonomous in terms of their leadership, vision, and execution. We’re just here to help!
Step 2 – Turn your dream into a plan. It’s super important to go from the idea stage to a concrete plan. We can help you with that and share from our experience and resources how to launch the vision God has given you. Oh, and we are firm believers that the Holy Spirit is our best teacher and leader. He will show the way.
Step 3 – Identify and commission leadership. Groups without leaders don’t last very long. God has called some to help equip the church and the Bible calls those people elders. They are people that have been around a while and can share their wisdom, keep us on track, and help when things go bad. For the most part, if you’re thinking about starting a microchurch, you will be an elder. But that’s not always the case. We can help you work that out.
Step 4 – Launch your microchurch and check in along the way. Everyday Mission is committed to helping leaders get from idea to execution as fast and efficiently as possible. Our primary goal is to see the Good News of God’s Kingdom spread by all means possible. As you launch your microchurch, we will be available to support you through your successes and failures. Often, the failures are the most helpful times! We will provide coaching and a community of other leaders to learn from and lean on throughout your journey.
We have been specifically praying for God to raise up leaders to answer the call to start microchurches in the Treasure Coast area of Florida, but we want to support anyone who is a potential microchurch planter. It’s time to respond to what God wants to do to bring renewal to his church. We believe this time in history needs small groups of people honoring Jesus through their mission and commitment to one another. But we need leaders to respond to God’s call and step out in faith. God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called!
If you’re interested in starting a microchurch or transition an existing ministry to a network of microchurches, send us a message and we’ll set up a meeting. Also, if you have an existing group and are looking for connection to something larger than yourself, let us know. We believe that the Holy Spirit is calling his Church to renewal. Let’s follow him together!
