Prayers for Renewal

Part of our calling as an intentional community of missions and microchurches is to commit ourselves to prayer on behalf of the place where we call home. In our case, that place is the Treasure Coast of Florida (from Jupiter to Vero Beach). We want to see the church renewed in its calling and mission from top to bottom. We also want to encourage and support leaders who are willing to step out in faith to serve God in small, reproducible, and sustainable ways for the sake of his Kingdom.
The prayers below are crafted prayers. The first came out of a time of listening and reflection at our microchurch in Jupiter. It is a declaration that we want to be a part of God’s renewal project for his church and the world. This prayer would be a great addition to your church’s worship time. Use it as a skeleton and add your own unique elements that speak to your own calling, mission, and passion.
The second is a prayer to “wake the sleeping giants.” It is my sincere belief that there are countless, faithful Christians in this area who are tired, burned out, struggling with their faith, and ready to give up on church. This prayer is a cry for the Holy Spirit to stir their hearts again, just as when they were young in Jesus. This generation needs mature believers to lead, not fade away into the sunset. A great companion to this prayer is this worship song by Maverick City Music, “Take Me Back.”
